I've done rather a lot of research on vampires, but it's all very anecdotal and, frankly, I wouldn't rely on some of these people to correctly tell me the time of day, much less anything else." There's the unmistakable sound of pages turning. Does... is he consulting a book? A book on vampires? "So, I'll simply ask you. Can you eat what humans consider food or does it have to be blood? If so, must it be blood from a human or will an animal suffice? Oh, and lastly, what size shoe do you wear? It gets very draughty in here sometimes."
