Oh, and the bath was lovely, with a giant claw-foot tub that could easily fit two, possibly three if they were very friendly. Little jars of scented powders lined a shelf next to it, and if one was poured into the water it not only scented it but made it slightly foamy, like a kind of soap--a soft, silky soap. A curious kind of sea sponge sat on a small ledge, fluffy towels hung from a rack, and the whole room was lit in the same way, with candles and lamps. Again, the single window bore heavy curtains. This was a bath that clearly belonged to someone, though regular cleanings couldn't quite disguise the fact that a good deal of time had passed since it was last used.
The bedroom itself, with its huge four-poster bed draped with rich hangings and massive armoire, was another curiosity entirely, as the giant wooden structure held a collection of women's clothing at least a decade out-of-date. It'll all turn out to fit someone shorter than her, though if she doesn't mind the skirts and sleeves baring a little too much, they're comfortable and richly made.
All in all, a very strange and somewhat haunting place. It's a small while before there's a knock at the door.
