At least with Azwel already nude their work was shorter. When he comes round again that buzzing is back in his brain, bringing with it that unnerving disconnect, that feeling that he is very much not in control of his own body. He can move his head, at least, and track his eyes, and he sees that he's lying next to Vash, who is already once again stripped and restrained.
He can't reach out a hand to touch him or even speak to him.
A part of him settles into this condition. After all, didn't he spend literally years like this anyway, his mind pushed and pulled by those two shards? This one simply buzzes monotonously instead of singing. There's only one source instead of two. His sight goes blurry and his eyes fall shut again until a voice speaks.
"Good. The signal is at one hundred percent strength."
A hand lightly slaps Azwel's face. "Time for round thirteen, friendo."
"That's enough of that," the researcher says coldly. "Go and join the others." The owner of the hand stops rolling Azwel's head from side to side and leaves. Presently the goggled and expressionless face of the researcher comes into view.
"Your friend was very impatient. He's had a number of impulsive run-ins with authority. Perhaps a lesson in humility from someone he actually cares about will make it sink in."
"Heh," Azwel huffs. "D'y'think he lis'ns to me?"
"We'll find out. The sedative will have worn off by now."
