Felicity can be subtle as an assassin with her plots when she chooses to be but in this case, the plot really only works if at some point, Azwel realizes what's happening, at least on some level. The trap for Carden is really more passive, in the sense that she knows how he is. He doesn't have to realize what's happening to walk right into it. But Azwel does.

"Uh... you know how she is," that's supposed to be an answer in itself, but so long as Azwel stays expectantly silent, Carden will grow even more red after another moment, "She's... ah... very happy with her marital duties," he manages, then clears his throat, "Uh. And she finds you a good conversationalist." He finishes, lamely.
